Back to School......

I have just loved having time off from "school" with no papers to grade, no helping with impossible math problems, no solving how to do whatever in composition, etc.  Loved sleeping in ( till 730 !) Really enjoyed watching a whole series ( Love Comes Softly with the girls, Lord of the Rings with the boys' and Pride and Prejudice  and Sense and Sensibility with everyone) from start to finish.  I finished an afgan I started two years ago! ( that felt great). Made a scarf. Enjoyed Christmas and all the festivities.

We did however accomplish school...the gals did sewing, lots of reading, journaling, playing games, and played their instruments. The guys learned how to clean a Saxaphone, perfected skills on their instruments and so much more.  When left to do as they will children find very constructive things to do. They seem to enjoy the pursuit of learning. Taking time off is good for all.

I am finishing up the 2nd quarter grades and adding last notes on next quarters plans. We have tweeked our schedule to allow for a bit more time to "play". We are really looking forward to our art study on Van Gogh, diving into physical science, architechure, and finishing up the American revolution.
