Join us on a quest to discover what is in the air.
Day One
What is Air?
- Study the composition of Air. Make a pie graph showing what air is made of. ( Science & Math)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air
Vocabulary: cellular respiration, nitrogen, oxygen, gases, respiration, water vapor, carbon dioxide
Day Two
Layers of the Atmosphere
- Make a model of the layers of the Atmosphere. ( Science)
On the model label each layer: miles from earth, temperature, what happens in that layer.
Day Three
Air Pollution
- Review Layers of the Atmosphere. ( Comprehension)
- Discover what air pollution is. ( Reading)

- How does Air Pollution effect the environment? How does Air Pollution effect you? ( Reading, critical thinking)
http://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=aqikids.index ( simple easy to understand)
http://coe.mse.ac.in/kidsair.asp Upper Elementary to older kids.
- Do Index Card Experiment http://web.stclair.k12.il.us/splashd/airquexp.htm ( doing Science)
Index card has packing tape sticky side up on it.
Location of the cards is printed on the back. Leave in place for 24 hours.
- Do Vocabulary Puzzle. ( spelling and vocabulary)
- Read: The Elements of Oxygen by John Farndone Benchmark Books 1999 ( Reading)

Day Four
Air Pollution Cont....
- Finish Index Card Experiment (science)
Examine particals with a magnifying glass. Compare and Contrast the different cards.
- Find air pollutants in the house. (science and home ec)
Day Five
- Blue Sky Experiment: How do the particles in the atmosphere cause the sky to look blue and the sun to look yellow? http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/sky.asp (science)

Why is the sky blue? Experiment was found in: Janice Van Cleave’s Weather Page 8. You can also find something similar here: http://www.exploratorium.edu/snacks/blue_sky.html
Another Cool Experiment: (more fun science)
I am soooo glad you commented on my craft blog. Through that I found your science and art appreciation blogs. I can't wait to really sit down and read them. They look GREAT ! thank you soooo much for your sweet encouraging words my friend.
