Atmosphere and Weather Unit Study

This has been moved to:  http://sierradreamersci.blogspot.com/

We have just started our atmosphere and weather unit study. I have to admit this is a plan as I go unit study as the final quarter of school just appeared out of nowhere. Where has the time gone? Anyway I plan to log what we have done in this unit day by day.

Monday

·         Look up and read info on : Evangelista Torricelli

·         Do a bio page on him.  Keep it simple.

·         Define Barometer. ( you can do this on the back of the bio page)

·         Do Experiment with Mom ( make your own Barometer)

http://chainreaction.asu.edu/weather/trythis/barometer.htm

·         Write about the experiment.

·         Make your Lap book (template) for this unit. You will need to use at least two file folders.

Questions: What did the experiment prove? Why is this important?

Scripture: But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground. Gen 2:6

What kind of atmosphere did the Lord make? What caused that atmosphere to change? Can you find the story in the Bible?

Tuesday

More experiments! What is Air Pressure?( Look up and define after we do the experiments.)

·         Review yesterdays key points. ( Barometer, Evangelista Torricelli, Air pressure)

·         Do Balloon Rocket Experiment  Use Science Experiment Page.

What did you learn?

What can you add to your lap book?

Scripture: Isaiah 55:10

Who designed weather? According to this scripture what is the purpose of rain and snow?
