- We took a virtual tour of Roman Arles. http://www.galenfrysinger.com/van_gogh.htm
This is a very large site with lots of photos and information. Very Good.
- We learned about the Roman Water Mill at Barbegal : ( cool science!)
It was a flour mill. http://www.waterhistory.org/histories/barbegal/
This aqueduct provided water to a Roman mill
at Barbegal and to the city of Arelate (modern-day Arles).
- We began to look at all the works Van Gogh did while in Arles.
He did 187 paintings from Feb 1888 to May 1889 ( this count does not
include drawings) Over the next several weeks we will be looking at
these painting by subject groupings.
