Van Gogh did five versions of La Berceuse (Augustine Roulin) .
This is the wife of his dear friend and post man Joseph Roulin.
He considered these folks to be parent figures in his life.

I love the detail in the wall paper. The rope in her hands
is attached to the baby's cradle. This is how she rocked the
baby.
