Lynn over at Eclectic Education has started Thoroughly Organized Thursday. Check it out!

My Tip for Today:

I started a file drawer for ideas. Each file folder is for a topic such as Science, History, Geography, Art. When I come across a lesson plan or idea that I will use within the year I file it in the correct file. Notice I said that I will use within the year! Key point to keeping the clutter down is to limit what I store!

Here is an example of what is in my Geography Folder: US Map Outlines, Virginia History Maps, World Map Outline, and about 14 lesson ideas for the upcoming year.

When it is crunch time ( time to actually figure out what we will cover this year) I go through the idea file and pull stuff. I then reorganize it by month of use and put it back in the file.

  1. This is a great tip ! I have a filing cabnet that I NEED to be using instead of just storing . lol

You guys probably know a lot about computers and know what you can and cannot do. I am not sure why we don't have problems with cookies. Ohhh I just copy and save. I don't download any codes from sites. Maybe that is the diffrerence. Does that help ?

  2. I have done the same thing. The only difference is that I rarely end up using the info that has been filed away, so I end up making more work for myself because I have to sort through and figure out if I should really keep saving it, or just throw it away. (sigh)

FYI -- I posted a new update about my dd. In a nutshell, we still don't have a diagnosis.

  3. That's a great idea! I have recently organized my computer files the same way. I had so many free things I'd downloaded that they were getting lost and forgotten.
