Bartering

I have had the opportunity to barter a lot lately. It has been a blessing to our family. Websters meaning of barter: exchanging one commodity for another

Some of the commoditys I exchange are:

Housecleaning for piano and voice  Saves me 130.00 a month. ( we could not do this without bartering)

Housecleaning for food. Saves me a weeks worth of groceries each month.

Volunteer at our food pantry ( church) Worth 6 bags of groceries from the pantry each month.

Exchanging books. Saved me 115.00 this year

Current barter is writing a few reviews for a book: I will be able to get the book for free. The book cost 29.00

If you google barter you will come up with an over whelming amount of information. I suggest you look at what you can offer such as: babysitting, accounting, cleaning , animal care, fruits and veggies, ect. Find someone who needs what you have to offer that can offer you a service you need. It really is a great way to trim the budget.

Here is one simple article on bartering that might get you motivated to begin bartering. http://www.stretcher.com/stories/05/05may09a.cfm

  4. This is an idea that I need to try. Last year I swapped Chemistry lessons for British lit lessons. It saved $40 a month.

I need to do more of this.
