Weightloss Wednesday

Walking! Walking! Walking!

Did you know one pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories. That’s humbling considering how hard it is to burn that many calories!

I got a pedometer for Mothers Day. What an education. I walk take a lot more steps than I thought!  Just moving through my day (not doing my walk in the neighborhood) I logged 4307 steps yesterday. To burn one pound of fat each week I need to burn an extra 500 calories a day. The average amount of calories burned in a 1 mile moderate walk is 100. This all depends on your stride. It can take between 1760 and 2640 steps to complete one mile. So using the pedometer will help me know if I am walking enough to meet my daily fitness needs.

Walking has many benefits. Check out this page: http://www.aarp.org/health/fitness/walking/  ( okay I am old enough for AARP, their stuff is good at any age!)

This week I lost a pound….on the average of a 4lb swing from am to pm.  I did go off my diet for mothers day. No guilt! I enjoyed a healthy choice and ate smaller portions.

The gals gave me clothes for Mothers Day. We had to go back to the store for a smaller size. It was fun! I need to purge my closet once again. I have a second wave of stuff that is just too big. This is so hard for me to do…but the big stuff has to go!

I hope all of you are taking advantage of the outdoors. Walk, hike, bike, do something to enjoy it. Refresh your mind and body.

  2. You are so good at this weight loss thing. I guess I am going to have to make my portions smaller. I have really dug my heals in deep in the counting calories. Maybe just making my portions smaller would be good enough. We will see. I am just holding on to my starting weight so well, ((sigh))

    Blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

  3. Good for you! I am a firm believer in walking. I HAVE GOT TO get my plantar fasciitis under control so I can start walking like crazy. I'm glad you are continuing to have success. You sure sound like you have fun with it.

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
