Weekly Wrap Up

On The Heart and Mind: Learning how to actually apply this scripture in a very real way this week. "Don't borrow trouble's from tomorrow. Today has enough troubles of its own!" Our 16 year old daughter has developed some health issues that may be related to a growth on her skull. XRays were not clear enough. We just know that there are two areas of concern. We see a neurologist on Monday. And Monday sees a long way off!

On The Home Front: Seven loads of laundry on Monday and its Friday and the machine is whirring away again. Thankful for the machine! Did a great deal of cleaning and just putting stuff away. Amazing how a quick pick up makes the house look a hundred percent better.

In Our School: This week we worked really hard to get back into it after such a long and wonderful break. My 16 yo really struggled to keep up and studied hard. Its heart wrenching. We have given her much grace and as much help as we can. Grateful we home school and can do this for her. We had a discussion in the car ( just the two of us) about her senior year (2012). Oh it just is beyond me how she grew up so fast! I long for her to be my little girl ( even if just for this week)

Hoping to get to the fish dissection tomorrow ( Saturday).

My Craft Corner: I did not know I would need craft therapy but God did. ( hours in the waiting room and xray so far) I have a whole zip lock bag of yo yos and lots of plans for gifts. Here are some web sites with some of the ideas.

How to make a yo yo. This gal does a fabulous tutorial. I promise to put my own photos up soon.

Hand Bags. I am always wanting to make handbags. I have a whole box of fabric just for this. Not to just get with it!

In The Kitchen: Making candy with the thermometer was a success! It is fabulous! I did learn that I need to use a larger pot. I got steam burns on my fingers ( before I put the mitt on!). When the candy boils it plops and the steam is very hot. We made Carmel's and they were better than store bought.

We were blessed with a large amount of stripper fish this week ( fresh!)

I am working on long term planning of dinner menu. I just am tired of being in a rut. I would love to try this moms method. http://savingslifestyle.com/2009/01/snack-time-menu-planning-resource/ This week besides fish we had Nachos, steak and baked potato, and leftovers. All the holiday leftovers are officially gone! Happy Dance!!!!

On The Healthy Side: I finally stepped on the scale. I have 23 lbs to loose ! I lost 3 of those this week just by cutting out food after dinner time. So onward I go! The plan is to start by cutting the sugar and starch ( excess and bad). I looked back through my diet post from Weight Lost Wednesday. I had reached my goal right before my sons wedding in June of 09. So the weight has crept on since then and all to my fault! Here is where I was in June of 09 and I plan to be back there by June of 11! http://morningstaracademy2.blogspot.com/2009/06/making-goal.html

  5. I'm so sorry to hear about your dd. Yes, Monday would certainly seem a long way off when your mother's heart is concerned. I hope you will keep us posted as to how things go for her.

Take care, my dear friend. Hold on tight to Jesus. He's holding tight to you and dd.

  6. Ohh sweetie I am praying for your dd and family ! I am praying the Lord gives you peace during the waiting. (which is the hardest) You are well covered in prayer.

Ohhh yes art therapy is sooooooooo good for the soul. It is amazing how the Lord guides your thoughts and emotions as you stitch away. I pray you get more and more time with the Lord stitching away your concerns.

And YEAH on the candy successes. I am drooling just thinking about it. *grin*

Yes, homeschooling is wonderful for helping a child to go their speed. I pray blessings on your time with your dd and her studies.

And craft therapy is so wonderful! I'm having computer therapy right now.
