Tuesday Project

Plans4You

Here is my Tuesday Project! Ever had a favorite chair? You know the one that fits your back perfectly and where your feet can fit comfy to the floor? ( I am short!) Well I have such a chair. Have had it for years and years. It seems the cats love it too. So this is my project.

Dirty arm rest...not sure how to get them looking pretty. I assure you I have scrubbed them!

Stain on seat courtesy of a loving cat with hairball. ( done while on vacation thus the bad stain) With the fabric being gray you cannot really see the dirt. I have use carpet cleaner on it a few times.
Love scratches on the back. One dear cat loves to run up and greet me while I am at my desk.

Fabric was free. Its an odd curtain that someone donated. Very heavy fabric and a pretty color.
Making a pattern. Note to self: measure better next time! This was harder than I thought. This old chair does not come apart easily so I tried to make the pattern with it all together resulting in a way too big pattern.
My constant helpers. Behr and Fudgy. ( Abby's tail also!)

And here is the recovered chair! I love this because I can wash it and change it up with the seasons or on a whim.. It did not fit around the bottom the way I wanted but thats because of the mechanics of the chair. I have some ideas to fix that on the next cover.

  1. Wow! I'd call that a huge success. Those helpers of yours are adorable. I have one around here who thinks she needs to be in on everything, too. *wink*

  2. Hi, Tina, I'm visiting you from IllinoisLori's "Tuesday Project Party" blog. Wow--I'm impressed with that chair. I'm not a seamstress at all--needlework of any kind generally confounds me--so I'm always "envious" of those who can do things like you did! My big projects usually involve cleaning/de-cluttering or organizing.

I love the fact that you were able to save your comfy chair. I know what you mean, too--I'm 5'2" and have a hard time sitting "properly" in a chair since my feet don't reach the floor half the time!

Hope you have a wonderful day today!!
