This Week at Our Home

So how did this week just zoom on by? I am wondering were the days went!
School was productive. It was the first week of quarter 3 and we met most of the goals for the week. Finishing up today ( Saturday). I am still trying to wrap my brain and heart around the fact that my 17 yo is nearly done with her home school career.
I was busy in the kitchen. Simple menu this week. We did Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday. Let me explain! For the past 3 years we have gone to someone else's home for Thanksgiving dinner. We cook a dish or two and show up to enjoy the fruits of someone else's labor of love. No clean up and no leftovers. Our kids wanted to do dinner at our home. So we did. A small turkey with all the trimmings. So on Tuesday we had Turkey and Rice Casserole ( so yummy and so easy), On Wednesday we had Layered Mexican Casserole ( using Turkey of course),Thursday Leftovers ( just what ever the kids wanted that was in the frid), Friday , Homemade Pizza. Today will be Hamburger Casserole. I see a theme here...casserole. Oh well. Good comfort food. Cheap. Easy to make early in the day and heat later. I also made bread and oatmeal cookies.
On the home front I am dealing with dust. Its from the furnace. I am thankful for the furnace just hate the dust. We have a new to us vacuum cleaner. It is an old Kirby. Sucks the dust and dirt right off any surface. I love it!
We have a sick feline in the house. Its so hard when you are on a fixed budget and need to take an animal to the vet. Even the low cost places are way above what we have.
His illness may have been triggered by my love of scented candles. ( I have an abundance of them throughout the house and use to burn them all day long) We prayed over this dear kitty and he is doing so much better.
I am nearly done crafting my first gift for our first grandchild.
Sneak Peek at gift #1

Ready to start another. Shani shared this pattern with me. You can find the pattern here: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80359.html?r=1 There are so many patterns on this site! Thanks Shani! I hope I can do as well as you did! Isn't this just the most adorable teddy?!

The gals have been doing new things in crochet too.

I did exercise some this week. Had a major fibro flare up mid week but am on the other side of that today and hope to walk today. We still have very pleasant weather here. In fact hubby just finished mowing the lawn ( in January!). So odd. I did not lose any weight nor gain any. I upped my water intake and really tried hard to stick to portion sizes at meals
And I cannot leave a post with out a furbabie photo. This is Behr. He was upset all week because his brother and best beau was not feeling well. He pouted and was very sad.

  1. I've been thinking of making a crochet necklace! Love it! Don't think I'm ready for a teddy bear though.

  2. Hi Tina!

Oh, what a cosy week it sounds as though you all had! I was just thinking that I was in the mood to cook up another turkey... you're encouraging me to do so. I'm waiting until we're done with the turkey leftovers from Thanksgiving. I always cook up a 20+ pound turkey and freeze the leftovers in meal-size portions. We still have some bones left for stock and probably 4-6 meals' worth of shredded turkey in the freezer, so it may be February before I can roast another. What a blessing to have a full freezer! Praise God and all His magnificent blessings!

Love the yarn on the sneak peek... it's a current favorite colour of mine. I can't wait to see what it is in all its finished glory! Whatever it is, your grandchild is sure to feel loved and special. What a gift you are giving that little blessing. :) Glad you like the teddy; be sure to let me know if you need help. :)

The girls are making some cute crochet items!! I'm thinking I need one of those headbands... Wouldn't it be fun to live by each other? :)

All right - hubby's plane has landed in Chicago and he's waiting to catch his connector to his final airport, so I'm going to let you go and get back to the kitchen. Making homemade veggie soup (he's ill, and eating out all week hasn't helped) and homemade bread for dinner, cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow, and a yummy new dessert with chocolate, coconut, and peanut butter. Bliss! How can it not be good, right? I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
    love,

  3. Sounds like a good week exept for the sick kitty and your flare up. All the foods sounds so yummy...I love comfort foods. THe weather is very cold for us here, so comfort foods help in cold weather. Great job on the water intake and portions. Love the new baby gftt peek. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend!!

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
