January in Review

I am earnestly trying to blog daily. I did meet that goal in January. However in February I want to take more time to blog about life more deeply. I think the blog has become more personal rather than a family or homeschool blog. Its a season in our lives. Here is a scant review of January.

BN90 Days I have done my best to keep up. I am only 2 days behind and should catch up over the weekend. I really enjoy listening to the word. The down side to going through the bible like this is I cannot stop and take notes or take much time to reflect. Thankful for this daily discipline.

Daily Walk with God Even though I am doing BN90
I still do my daily bible study, journaling and prayer.
I am a creature of habit. A morning gal. Currently
working my way through Galatians. Plan to blog notes next month.

My Crafty Side: I have completed 8 gifts for next Christmas. It has always been my goal to do a completely homemade Christmas. I am off to a great start so maybe this year is the year! To be fair I currently have a job were I do someone's laundry at their home. There is a lot of time to just sit and wait. So I bring stuff I can easily work on. This added time with few distractions has done wonders for my ability to complete projects.
Fitness Journey: I made two goals for January. Do exercise every day and eat less. I did that. I lost 5lbs and can now reach my toes while seated and tie my shoes without a struggle. I have CP and I had let myself get into really bad shape. With CP you must exercise daily. Stretching is so important. I was able to stretch my left leg almost an inch. My balance has improved so much and I am no longer needing to use the cane! My energy level has improved as well. I love the bike! I do my Bn90 while I pedal. I can even crochet and pedal.   I moved my exercise area from our bedroom to a spare room. Less distractions, more room and a no cat zone. Love my kitties but they do not make good exercise partners.

In the Kitchen: I think we can call January Soup month. Used the crock pot many many times. We had Chili, Chicken Vegetable Soup, Creamy Chicken Vegetable Soup, Potatoe Soup, Beef Vegetable Soup.  Easy go to meals that make the house smell good and fill the belly. We also had Toasted Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup, Hamburgers and home fries, Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas, Tacos, Creamy Chicken Casserole, Mexican Chicken, BBQ Chicken,  Homemade Chicken Nuggets, Green Salad with Chicken , Fish Sandwiches, Ham, Spaghetti, Pork BBQ, Pork Roast, Nachos, and Breakfast for dinner. We plan a menu each month and try to stick to it. The challenge is to make the budget stretch each month. As you can see this month we had a lot of chicken! We also had a gift of some other meats. I know on most blogs we only see what was for dinner....But the other two meals are part of the budget too. Our breakfast are simple. yogurt, toast, eggs, cereal. Not big breakfast eaters. Lunch is usually leftovers from dinner. ( I cook more dinner for this purpose) or Sandwiches.

Family Adventures: I use to blog about our homeschool experience. With the last child a few months away from graduating high school there is not much to share on my part of homeschooling with her. She is doing well. She is a youth leader at our church and this takes up a lot of her free time. She has the normal senioritis...would rather do anything but school.  Our 19 yr old daughter is nearly done with college level stuff and will be starting a job in her field in Feb. There is never a dull moment. Life seems to always be changing Being flexible has become the norm.

Around the House: I have done a ton of organizing this month. It's strange just what I am organizing. Feeling accomplished but wondering if I am becoming OCD! I hope this continues!

  1. You are doing so well with your goals. Tom Sawyer has CP and I have never heard that daily exercise is important, but it make sense. I am glad that he is in dance and gymnastics (special needs). I do see him making progress with his weak core. Keep up the good work.

  3. So many wonderful things going on in your home! I am behind 2 days on my B90 Bible reading, too, but I am determined to catch up. I had migraines this week that played havoc with reading.

  4. Sounds like things are going great. I love that incumbent bike. We have a regular stationary bike, but really no room for it. It's stored in the garage right now. Though I do keep looking to see if there is anywhere I can put in the house. :)

  5. Joann the bike does take up room and I have it in the main living space on purpose. I need to use it! If I put it up stairs in the spare room I will never go there and ride it. It is easy enough to move out of the way. The feet are like rollers and it can be rolled around.

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
