Show and Tell Friday

I do not have any photos to share this week. So this is just news.

This was our first week back to school after a long winter break. It went very well.

We visited the art museum on Wednesday and were treated to a wonderful collection of Norman Rockwell art, a fasinating show on how cameos are made, and a very well put together photo essay on Martin Luther King. Along side the Martin Luther King essay was another photo essay of a young black gals journey through one of our local high schools. She was the first black student.

We visited the thrift store in seach of Christmas markdowns. Did not find any but found a basket for 18 cents!

I have been working on learning how to make bead jewelery. Making lots of mistakes! But I am enjoying the whole process. I love making the beads. I really dislike putting on all the findings ect. I am not good at it.

I wanted to share the most current information on the new Lead Requirements for Childrens items. There has been alot of confusion. This new document came out yesterday afternoon and should help to clarify the law. http://www.cpsc.gov:80/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09086.html

I know alot of folks are upset by this but it is a good thing. lead poisoning is awful. You can go here to learn about it: http://www.fda.gov/FDAC/features/1998/198_lead.html

Lead is invisible. We need these safety guidelines in place to protect ourselves.

  1. Ohhhhhhh how I wished I was with you gals. Norman Rockwell is one of my FAVORITES !!!! I have a BIG book of all or most of his paintings and about his life. I was born in New Hampshire not to far where he lived. That would have been soooooooooo neat to see up close. You will have to show us what you are making. I use to make beads out of clay when I was in High School.

Sending you blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

  2. Happy New Year. I am glad that you had a good start back to school. Our museum had Norman Rockwell come a year or so ago. I love his work. Thanks for the links. I think fear is running rampant on the web.

  5. Kind of took me by surprise with the lead links. When you wrote "lead" I thought you were talking about "lead" (as in a leader). Sorry. Kind of dense here. Couldn't participate in S&T this week. The flu nabbed me, but I'm back just in time to post the Bible challenge for this week, thankfully. It has not been a fun week.

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
