Through the Bible in One Year

I was ask how I do my bible study using the web sources. ( Do I journal etc) I start each week with a word document titled for that week of study. When I do my study I have the word document open , the bible reading page open, my favorite commentary page open, and usually a bible dictionary page open along with a search page open. When I come across something I want or need to understand better I either google it or use the commentary or the dictionary. I keep notes on my word document.  I enjoy being able to reference stuff right as I read it.

 

Feb 22: Lev 26-27

Ye shall make you no idols, neither shall ye rear you up a graven image, or a pillar, neither shall ye place any figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Jehovah your God.

 ² Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Jehovah.

 ³ If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

This seems all so simple to do…but we all know just how difficult it is. The Lord gave such awesome promises if we could just do the above.

Then given all the things the Lord would do to them if they did not follow the above….oh my. I would have lived in fear I think…

All through the reading so far the Sabbath is very important to the Lord even for the land. ( as a gal who grew up on a farm I understand allowing the land to rest and the value of it). It has me thinking that we do not honor our Father by correctly observing the Sabbath or day of rest.

Again I am in awe of Gods order. Everything was cared for in the Tablernacle. From Aaron who had people attending to him to each stick of furniture and even the screen door.

Seal skin…Think about it! They were in the desert. Everything that the tabernacle was built with was the finest…cold, brass, silver, linens, etc. The spoils of Egypt must have been rich.  When we studied the tabernacle years ago with the kids there was never a moment of boredom. It is awesome to study.

The seven-branched candlestick in the tabernacle, described in Ex. xxv. 31 et seq. and xxxvii. 17 et seq., is attributed by the critics to post-exilic times, for the description is that of the candlestick of the Second Temple. It was chased of pure gold, and called, therefore, "menorah ṭehorah" (Ex. xxxi. 8, xxxix. 37; Lev. xxiv. 4). From a pedestal ("yarek"), which is not described, rose the trunk, and from this spread the branches("ḳaneh"), curving upward from the stem at three points in a vertical line; on the trunk there are said to have been four, and on each of the branches three, calices shaped like almond blossoms; that is, bulbs with opening buds.
