Weekly Wrap Up

On The Heart and Mind. Believing God in all things. DD has a cyst in the pineal region of her brain. We are waiting on blood test, and more appointments to specialist.
On The Home Front: The roof is finally going to be repaired! The work starts at the end of the month.
In Our School: We are catching up! We have been able to spend some evening hours and weekend time in school. We are nearly done with all the dissections in Biology and really ready to move on.
My Craft Corner: Still yo yoing. I have quite a few. I am also collecting more ideas for gifts. I was able to find some nice glossy magazines to make beads with. http://paperbeads.org/ I love making beads and just need to make a few more so I can start assembling some gifts.
In The Kitchen: Tuna Noodle Casserole, Stir Fry, Asian Chicken, BBQ Ribs, Mexican Shepards Pie, Nachos with all the fixings, and leftovers. I have not entered one recipe more on my recipe blog. Need to make that a daily priority! (That is if this is going to be of any help)
Our new favorite bread for the bread machine is:
Cheddar Chive Garlic Bread
(This is for the one pound loaf, just enough for a meal for a family of 6)
¾ cup cold water
2 cups bread machine flour
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
2 Tablespoons fresh chives
1 Tablespoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder (do not sub with garlic salt, use garlic powder for the best results)
1 teaspoon quick acting active dry yeast
Spray bread pan with oil. (I know they are non stick but this helps put a nice crust on the bread)
Put in the machine in the order above. On my machine I select 1 for 1 pound loaf.
I do love using this machine and believe it is the best value to date in our home! I paid 5 bucks for it and it works so well and is so easy to use.
On The Healthy Side: I have been part of Spark on and off for quite a while. (More off than on recently.) However I still get newsletters in my email and I wanted to share this article on portions. It shows photos of what a portion should look like (300 calories) for both eat in or eat out. It is very eye opening! http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=1260 My biggest problem is portion control! I am still at the same weight as last week so that is good. Did not gain or lose…but down almost three pounds since I started.
I am Reading: The Bible in Chronological Order, City on Our Knees by Toby Mac, Colossians in a Year, and Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul. Our church just started The Truth Project as a bible study. This is a Christian Worldview class. Excited to dig into this! http://www.thetruthproject.org/ I love reading through the bible. Each day is such a blessing. God reveals Himself over and over and I learn a lot. For example what is a five sided jamb? I think I am still a bit clueless. But here is some info. http://bible.cc/1_kings/6-31.htm

  1. Your bread sounds good, I'll have to give it a try. With the cheddar cheese, I bet it would go good with chili. I've been watching what I eat also, just making small changes that will hopefully give me big results. :-) I read through the bible last year with a walk through the bible devotional, it was very rewarding. I'm currently reading in Psalms for my morning devotional. My bible has a nice study guide in it, so it's neat the read the history behind the beautiful writings. Hope all goes well with your daughters blood work. Blessings to you and yours. Heather

  4. Thank you so much for stopping by the cottage and for your kind words that you left behind...it is always amazing how Our Lord continues to bring all of us together to edify Him and encourage each other in Him!

I did the Truth Project with my husband about two years ago. It is a powerful study that will change your way of thinking even more than before. Enjoy it!

  5. Praying that your DD will be fine, and that your whole family will be filled with God's peace.

I love our bread machine, too. I was going to make flax bread tonight, but the measuring cups are all dirty after Miss 13 prepared a scrumptious meal. I guess we need to buy another one! LOL

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
