Grasshoppers, Recycling, and Being Creative

We finally did our last dissection! Oh to be almost done with Biology! The gals spent an hour and a half this morning with this crunchy fellow.

I have been blessed with a box of brand new tees. These were for a past event at our church.

So the gals made some pretty cool sharpie tye dye shirts. Here is a photo of them redesigning the shirt. They slit the sides and tied it. It looks pretty cool!

The photos of the tye dye did not show up for some reason ( camera to computer issue)

I made tee shirt yarn. This was a lot of fun, easy to do, and very fast. I am not sure what I will do with it yet. Weave a rug? Crochet dishrags? Not sure! But its cool to do and I am sure whatever we decide to make it will be fun.

Arlette at Polka Dot Pineapple has a wonderful tutorial and lots of links on making tee shirt yarn.

  2. What a neat idea for old t-shirts! I'm going to be looking that up!

We didn't do dissections; we just did regular butchering instead. Hope it passes for the university admission people!

  3. Love the tee shirt yarn, looks like fun. I bet it would make a great braided rug, or possibly a crocheted basket. We have a long way before we get to dissecting anything; thankfully! :-) Have a wonderful day.

  5. Wow, Tina...that is really cool w/the t-shirts! I like the tied sides, too :-)

Dissecting grasshoppers...that's a first for me! We did the usual perch, worm, frog. I think there was something else, but I don't know what!

My mom is much better now, thank you so much for your prayers for her this past weekend!
