We Missed Week 12 due to Technical Problems!

But here it is anyway.... ( last week)
I did a lot of baking this week...if you make homemade bread they will eat every bit of it!

Our weekend was lazy. Lots of time to craft, clean, cook. We tried a new church on Sunday. Not so easy to do! But it felt so good to be in church. Emily became sick Sunday evening.
Monday...Emily is still sick. Yucky flu stuff. She still did school and then spent the rest of the day on the couch sleeping and watching tv. Naomi did all her school and then headed off with a friend for the day. I learned a new to me crochet stitch! I learn so slowly so when I finally got this it was a joyous moment! Its so lovely. It mimics cable knitting look. Here is a video that explains how to do it very well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYJs42RUfuc I also use these videos to learn from: http://www.nexstitch.com/Tutorials.html   I will be using the stitch to make fingerless mittens.
We had chicken sandwiches for dinner ( thin sliced breaded and fried chicken breast on homemade bread with all the fixings ) Here are some of our finished Christmas gifts. Of course after we finished these we decided to add a pair of fingerless gloves to each set...so they are not quite done yet.

My first pair of fingerless gloves. We call them Hobo Mitts. This is using the new stitch I learned. Detail really does not show up well.

Tuesday. The gals have no enrichment classes this week. Both are now sick ( great way to spend the holiday week). They both managed to complete their school work. And of course the rest of the time was spent sleeping or watching movies. We kept dinner easy and lite...toasted cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup. In the evening hubby and I headed for the Thanksgiving Basket outreach at the trailer park. 80 baskets were delivered. This year it was warm and balmy...unlike last year when we delivered in the rain and muck. Was pleasant!
Wednesday found us turning on the AC! Oh please could we have some cold weather!!!! It was hot and humid.Hubby and I did some last minute shopping for the holiday while the gals did their homework. I baked 3 large batches of yeast rolls, worked on Christmas gifts and spent time with still not feeling 100 percent kids. I think they will be fine for the holiday. Rest is a wonderful healer. We ordered Pizza for dinner. We have not done that is so long and it was sooooo yummy!
Thursday was bliss! In our PJs till well after noon. Enjoyed a light breakfast while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade followed by the dog show. Our oldest and his wife made it to our house by 230 and we headed to a lovely dinner and fellowship with family. I brought along my rolls, green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. We ate way too much food, laughed till our sides hurt and just enjoyed one anothers company.
Friday was spent enjoying our oldest son ( his lovely wife was shopping with her family).
It was a great Thanksgiving weekend which I will share about in the next post.

Do you see the cat eyes? There are two cats playing with the rat in this photo.

  1. Sounds like a busy week. Hope your girls are feeling better now. Is your new stitch Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)? Your projects look great. Hope your week 13 is going well. :-)

  2. That loaf of bread is a beauty! And your week sounds somewhat like mine. My husband and oldest son were sick, giving it to me this week. Love the cats and rat picture. I bet the cats enjoy watching the rat. Mental stimulation is what we call it when our cat enjoys watching the birds at the feeder.

  3. I love the fingerless gloves! You did a great job on them. Happy belated Thanksgiving!

  4. I love your knitting projects, so pretty. :)

  5. I love seeing all the ways you are being creative. [o= I am starting to come up for air and love being back. Missed you!

Boy are your kids growing up so fast!

    Blessings and ((HUGS))

  6. I see the cats! Is the rat still with us??! We have the cold viruses here, too...kind of a bad cold/real mild flu. Bad enough to stay home, mild enough to still do most of the schoolwork. Gotta love it :-)

Nathan needs my computer for an online class his computer doesn't like to connect with...so I have to run. Have a blessed weekend!

  7. Hope the girls are all better!!! Homemade bread.....YUMMY...my fav!!! Loved the knitting pretties. (THat is one thing, I wished I knew how to do...I will have to learn someday.) A rat?? Yikes I have missed all about that in my absence, haha.

  8. Love the scarves and hats! Very cute!

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalms 143:8
