32 Years and Counting

Yesterday marked our 32nd wedding anniversary. I remember folks saying ( to one another and a few to our face) "It won't last". You see we never dated. We were just friends for a year. We officially had one date! Upon marriage we had no job, no savings, no place to live...you get the story. But what folks forgot is we had God! We were somewhat fearless back then...God was with us and all was gonna be just fine. ( I keep trying to recapture that zeal! God is so good!)
Our first 3 months of marriage found us working at a christian summer camp a mile a part from one another. I was the horse wrangler and my husband worked at the regular part of camp as a counselor. We lived in tents, ate with the campers, went to a small church on Sundays. Our small pay went to pay for the car and insurance for the car. We did not have any other bills at the time.  So at that moment all our needs were met.  Oh to live like that again! To have that level of faith. I am positive it is still in there some where. Just when did all the worldly junk creep in and push away our abandon for the Lord? Oh I love the Lord with all my heart...but do I still have wildly abandon faith?
Our love for each other and faith in the God who brought us together has carried us through so many trials and joys. But that first summer set the foundation for us. All we really need is the Lord. Many times in the past 32 years our faith has been tested. I plan to write many post on that in the coming weeks.

  1. Hi Tina!

Congratulations on 32 years! The beginning of your married life sounds a lot like ours; we'll hit 20 years in January and more in love than ever. :)

Congratulations on another graduate in the house! We have that as well, and it's our first so it's very disconcerting. Why did it go so quickly??

That was taken at the Monastery of Immaculate Conception in southern Indiana. :) It was so pretty!

Oh yes, May was definitely F.U.L.L. This is the busiest year we've had in maybe our entire married life. It's not over yet, either! :)

    Have a lovely Saturday!
