Week 3

This week:

We will continue to study still life skills from

  • introducing different media ( Van Gogh used different media

in many of his works)

  • Unusual Shapes
  • Ellipeses
  • Simple Objects

My girls really enjoy these simple step by step lessons.

We will also study:

  • hatching technique

We will be using Figure on the Road and Man Pulling a Harrow.

  • watercolor ( Van Goghs early works in watercolor are very different

from later works)

We will be using Weaver Seen From the Side and Women Miners.

I am using the following book for the above pictures.

Through the Eyes of Vincent Van Gogh: Selected Drawings

and Paintings by the Great Master by Barrington Barber

It can be downloaded for free at:  http://www.wowio.com/index.asp

You can find all Van Goghs Sketches and Watercolors here:

With over 900 finished and unspecified unfinished works there is

plenty to choose from. We just spend a few minutes each day

looking at them. I actually set the timer so my kids will stop!

Please note I always plan more than I expect to accomplish.

Some weeks we get it all done. Other weeks will overlap. At

least this way I have enough material prepared for the study.
