I have passed the halfway mark! I have lost 19lbs. It has been hard since Christmas. I have learned that I still do not have good control of my cravings for sweets and need to work on that.
I have not been able to do much strength exercises due to a very sore artritic hip and lower back. It affects every movement including movements with my arms.
I am still hopeful that I can reach my weight goal by the end of April.
Some things I no longer use: mayo ( I was a mayo on everything gal), margerine, ( use to just glob it on), regular salad dressing. Check out the serving size of these items and the calorie count. Its worth trying to cut back or cut it out of your diet altogether.
I have gone to low fat oil and vinegar style dressings and use very sparingly. I have found pesto, lowfat dressing, mustards, salsas, work well in place of mayo. I no longer eat toast, eat pasta sparingly, plain or with tomato sauce.
I hope you are all enjoying working toward your goal for a better you!

WOW-congrats to you! I just got re-started on getting in shape & losing weight. Using the treadmill & cutting back on carbs. Keep it up! Holly
ReplyDeleteCongrats Tina. I am new to WLW. I just started my weight loss program on Monday and have a LOT more weight to loose than you. This will be a year long or more journey for me but I hope to get it off and keep it off this time.
ReplyDeleteAnyway congrats on being halfway to your goal and keep on. I will be praying for your hip to feel better. I think it was you hip?? anyway I will be praying.

A neat trick someone told me was to not pour dressing on your salad, but to dip your fork in the "on the side" container and then spear your lettuce. You get the taste in every mouthful, but consume FAR less dressing. I suppose you could do this will all dipping and pouring sauces!
ReplyDeleteWAHOOOOOOO, I am celebrating with you....happy dance.....half way there....WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still have issues with some cravings too. I want a bad dessert from Dairy Queen right now. Sometimes I give in to my craving, if I try to eat everything in sight to make up for the craving. Although I try not to give into my sweet cravings ever. I do like sugar free jello pudding they have several flavors that are good. I am soooo proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be blessed,
Chasity

Great job! 19lbs is something to be proud of. I have been trying to slowly change some of my bad habits also, which include sweets. I am now limiting myself to 1 sweet a week. This has been very helpful for me. That way I still get sweets and don't feel deprived.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to lose weight over the holidays, everything is so tempting. It sounds like you are doing great!
