Change your Light Bulbs!
We have switched out most of our lightbulbs to LED bulbs.
What is LED? This is a great science lesson! http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/led.htm
So how can I save if the bulb is so expensive? This was an obstacle for me! We started by buying a few at a time. Now most of our lamps and room lights have LED bulbs. While this site also sells the bulbs I posted it for the information. We get ours at Lowes for a reasonable price. http://www.eartheasy.com/live_energyeff_lighting.htm

Here is a nifty site where you can plug in prices ect and figure out the savings over time with LED.

Do the research in your area. Check out your electric bill before and after you begin to use LEDs. We are!
We bought a few strands of LED christmas lights this year, but I didn't know you could buy actual light bulbs. Are they more like incandescent than the flourescent are because some flourescent bulbs make me nauseous.
ReplyDeleteWe are totally sold on these !!! We slowly converted over as each light bulb burned out we replaced it with a LED one. I am VERY thankful we did. This is such a nessesary tip thank you for sharing it !

Thanks for the links. I'll have to check into this. My concern is that our lighting system seems to very easily "pop" lightbulbs off, so I am concerned that I'll just be buying lots more expensive bulbs just as frequently . I replace at least one bulb a week in one of my front room fans right now! That just can't be normal.
ReplyDeleteOh, I guess it would be nice if I identified myself. (my comment is the anonymous one.)
