Weekly Wrap Up

From the Heart: Blessed to overflowing! Whole family was home for Christmas.

In the School Room: Absolutely NOTHING! We are on Christmas break. I will be working on lesson plans next week.

On the Mission Field: My heart is broken for the many families who did not have anything for Christmas this year. We helped so many families but still there were more who went without ( these are families who come to the church food pantry)

On the Literary Scene: Picked up several books at the Library sale. Currently reading a Max Lucado three in one book: In the Eye of the Storm, He Still Moves Stones and A Gentle Thunder.

In the Kitchen: Kept it simple. Cooked up a large roaster chicken, mashed potatoes, and a huge beef roast to eat on all week, All had different schedules and it was just easier to have plenty of food in the fridge for them to make a plate when they needed to eat. We had a wonderful Christmas Breakfast.  Spent Christmas dinner with my DIL family. So very little cooking this week.

On the Creative Side: I am digging through old favorite crafts and homemade gift ideas. Need to choose a few and get started. Starting my list for next years gift ideas. I make a list of things to look for throughout the year for gifts and keep it in my purse. Also making a list of needed ornaments and decorations. We lost quite a few this year to rodents in the attic. ( hopefully the one we caught was the culprit) We will be storing the ornaments in plastic tubs this year.

Thrifty Finds:  Rediscovered a store. Ever done that? We use to go all the time to Home Emporium. The other day I was looking for a gift for my husband and at wits end because I have not been able to find it. Every store was out! So I checked out Home Emporium. Glad I did! No did not find hubbys gift. But I did find blackout curtains for my son ( his room is on the street side and there are street lights, annoying) at less than half the price at other stores.

  1. Sounds like a really nice week. I have to admit I am glad I am on the other side of the holiday. I think I am on the winning side of getting better. I am faithfully taking my Goldenseal and vitamin C. Plus putting Vicks rub on the bottom of my feet with socks to subdue the cough attacts. Thank you sooooo much for all your prayers. I have really needed them. Sending you all a HUGE ((HUG)). Are you all doing anything for New Years ? We will have a extended family game night.

    Blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

  2. Hi Tina!

Glad to hear you had a nice time, with little cooking required!

We store our ornaments in plastic tubs ever since, in our old house (2 houses before this one!), we discovered 6 inches of water in the crawl space after a rainstorm. The house right before this current one had mice in the basement, but was dry as a bone. This house is dry, and no mice...so far! We've been here 10 years now, so I think we might be safe! But we still use plastic tubs. I don't think I'll ever risk paper boxes for storage again!

Have a Happy New Year! Hope to "see" you again on thursday for a TAT post! :-D

  3. Tina, thanks for posting your weekly wrapup. You are doing great. I feel sad to read about those families too.

As for support letters, we do send them out. My husband and I will be working on a new one soon. Would you email me or pm me your snail mail addy?

Thanks for this, it really touches me.
