Under the Weather but Creative

Seems we all have a flu virus. I still managed to get a few creative things done, clean out a drawer and a cupboard ( finishing that long list of cleaning unseen places), and kept up with all the furballs. Here are my crafty endeavors for the week.
I think these are my favorite so far.

These did not photograph well because of the sparkle yarn. They are toddler size. They still need a ribbon to pretty them up. I learned I despise working with this kind of yarn!

These are just girly! They too are waiting for a ribbon.
I am making Booties for the Cure ( my own name!) cannot call them Booties for the Cure. Apparently  "For the Cure" is copy writed!)  for my sister who does Relay for Life. She is a three time cancer survivor and very active in raising money and awareness for cancer research. I will be making as many booties as I can and sending them to her in time for their big fund raiser. A yard and bake sale in June. The above booties however are already promised to some sweet newborns in our life.
I have finally learned how to read a pattern well, recognize my mistakes, and I am okay with ripping out as many times as it takes to get it right. I think I am ready for that teddy bear!

The girls enrichment school had a wonderful Winter Sampler. Two full evenings of music, comedy, sign language, and art. Each class performed 2 to 3 numbers. Art was displayed in the halls and a lovely coffee and sweets was served at intermission. My favorite was the bells and the jazz band ( and of course my daughters guitar class!) Hard to get a good photo in a crowed room!

We celebrated my husbands birthday. Emily made the cake. We ended up eating cake for dinner as we just were not hungry after Sunday lunch. Our new church gets out very late in the afternoon and we are still adjusting to eating just one big meal on Sunday. Note only seven candles. We older folks just add the two numbers in our age and put that number on the cake. In this case it was five plus two.
One of my husbands gifts was a painting from Emily. Almost all of the art in our home is done by our children. I love being surrounded by their creations.

  3. I'm sorry you all have been sick. At first I was thinking your grandbaby was going to have quite a few booties to wear! That's great you can help the cause like that. I hope your crew gets feeling lots better soon!

  6. Happy belated bday to your hubby! Great cake, great baby booties! Once I tried to raise $$ to help find a cure for my son's diabetes...I sold my own candles, and tried to call it "Candles for a Cure." Disgusted is the "polite" version of how I felt when I was informed that only Kommen and their blasted pink ribbons are allowed to say "for a cure" (the pink ribbons, btw, are a TOTAL scam and sham, they don't want to cure ANYTHING, it's a "fundraising money-maker" that doesn't do anything...gee, shall I tell you what I really think of them, LOL??!) Anyway, Tina, I love your booties for a cure! Watch this trailer, it's a new documentary coming out about Komen and their agenda... http://tv.naturalnews.com/v.asp?v=A6850654D4A85F4EA97EE37046D074F3 I've learned so much about them, when I see the pink ribbon on a product, I put the product back on the shelf and find something else. My mother, btw, is a breast cancer survivor, so it's "close" to my heart as a cause, but Komen is not.

Back to your blog now (sorry for my little rant, this stuff makes me nuts, though!)...I LOVE the new decor here! It's so homey and welcoming :-) Really love it!

Hope you're feeling better, all of you!
    Blessings and {{{HUGS}}},

  7. I hope that you are feeling better.

{{{waving hi}}}} I'm stopping by with a quick repetitive hello. I've had so many people on my heart but just couldn't visit blogs while visiting my grandmother in the hospital. I'm finally home and trying to make the rounds quickly and prepare for another possible trip to be back with her soon. I've read all the posts on my reader!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Tamara
